All Hands on DevOps #9

15th June 2017, 6:30pmAll hands on.jpg

Our 9th All Hands On DevOps: Head to Spitalfields Market :-)

While we are shoring up the details of All Hands on DevOps#9, we can now confirm the next date and location.

We are happy to be heading to the shiny new offices of the newly formed SapientRazorfish at Spitalfields Market.

The rough agenda for the evening is:

18:30Doors open, refreshments and networking

19:15Valentin Fadeev, DevOps Engineer at Student.com. Introducing Consul into an existing micro-service environment.

Valentin is the DevOps engineer at Student.com's London office. He supports the development team by creating and maintaining automated, resilient and reproducible infrastructure on AWS, implementing deployment workflows, achieving short release cycles. Prior to joining Student.com he used to work as a DevOps/Data Engineer in the ad-tech sector.

Consul is a powerful tool combining a service discovery mechanism, health checking, key-value store and event propagation. Used efficiently it can help create a highly automated, easily configurable and transparent runtime for distributed application. In this talk we will take a look at the challenges of introducing Consul into a existing microservice-based architecture in a least disruptive way. We will also demonstrate a possible approach to building an immutable automatically converging Consul cluster on AWS.

19:50 - pizza, refreshments etc.

20:10 - TBC

20:45 - networking, refreshments etc.

21:15 - On to a local watering hole (TBC)

We'll be announcing the second speaker and locking agenda over the coming days but with a limited capacity, it'll be worth an early RSVP.
